We know the outcomes for youth impacted by systems such as foster care, juvenile justice, and children experiencing abuse and neglect are poor. These youth are at greater risk for drop out, underemployment, incarceration, and continuing cycles of abuse and neglect.
During the next legislative session, representatives will have the power to improve foster care systems and enact reforms that prioritize the safety and well-being of at-risk children. That is why voting in this election is crucial in shaping the child welfare system in Nevada by determining the laws, policies, and resources that protect vulnerable children.
Through voting, citizens can influence decisions that enhance the support given to youth in transition from foster care, preserve foster youth benefits, and ensure that children in the welfare system, especially in the rural areas of the state, have access to stable homes and services that help them thrive. By holding leaders accountable for their stance on child welfare, voters can help create a system that better serves Nevada’s children.
